Female sculpture in clay and best research is this is from the 1940-1950's based on the primitive wood base. The patina, size and scale are magnificent. As a curator, one of those items I may regret parting with, she is stunning.
Styled: Add some height to a coffee table, book shelf, desk top. The patina and coloring is truly a neutral with a dark wood base, several layers of paint on a clay bust.
Measurements:
Bust: 9" T x 7" D x 6" W | Base: 3.5" W x 4.25" D
Condition: I believe this is clay that has been painted with several layers, starting with red clay, then silver and topped with black. Some areas you see all three. There is a hairline fracture at the base of the neck. The wood base is lightweight and a medium tone that looks to have been attempted to be patched with some type of material. The attachment is loose on the wood but she is stable.
